I'm Retiring! (my boots)

         

   These Redwings have served me well in my service to my family and others, but they are starting to fall apart. Many memories have been made in these boots, experiences that will help me as I go forward in life. 

Gallons of my sweat have been perspired in these boots.

I have gone into shin-deep mud with these boots.

These are my Redwings,

When I work, my heart sings,

to the Lord, the King of Kings,

the Creator of all things,

Yes, He created labor,

Before humans invented the saber,

Before there were people to call neighbor,

Before protein shakes to savor,

Used these boots before I used a razor,

Mowed lawns by the fourth-acre,

Snowblowed for my elderly neighbor,

Sat down, His Goodness to savor,

There are many things, 

To which I could cling, 

But Knowing the King of Kings,

Infinitely better than these temporal things
